EVALUATION

We have finished our film and we have produced an evaluation on a powerpoint presentation.

We have really enjoyed the process of creating our opening sequence and we have learnt and improved many media skills along the way.

THE VOICEOVER (continued)

We tried recording the voiceover again; the quality was really good and we liked how the voiceover sounded... but it was highly noticeable that it wasn't the same actress who plays Isobel and therefore we decided - as we couldn't get hold of Kiren for a re-recording - that we would leave it how it was.

THE VOICEOVER

After listening to the opening montague in our film we realised that the quality of the voiceover wasn't as good as we had previously hoped. We are therefore going to attempt to re-record the voiceover in a different style to see if has a better effect.

EDITING THE AUDIO LEVELS

We discovered that our film had some peaks in the audio levels and therefore we had to reduce the audio gain slightly on some sections of the film. It is now sounding and looking great!

CALENDER SHOT (continued)

We have now filmed the final shot for our opening sequence, the calender shot. We customised the calender by adding events that 'Isobel Hart' would be attending and we believe it looks realistic. We then captured the images that we filmed, of the calender, and all we have to do is edit the shots into the film. We used a fast zoom to convey the emotion of the shot and the calender shot it a point of view shot from Isobel.

CALENDER SHOT

Today, we have designed the calender that we will use for the final shot of our opening sequence. All we have to do is film a still of this calender, which we will customise to enhance the quality of the Mise En Scene, and then all our filming is complete.

FINISHED TITLE

WE HAVE FINISHED THE TITLE!

It has taken us just under two weeks, but it has definitely been worth it! The title looks really great and we are definitely very pleased with it.

FINAL FILMING

During the weekend that has just gone, we completed the last little bit of filming that we had left to do and also recorded the voiceover. We've just captured the images that we filmed and are now going to incorporate them into our opening sequence. We ensured that we had lots of colour in our shots to really evoke the genre of the film. The opening montage will now be much more colourful and exciting. We are now just going to try and perfect little parts of the film until we are completely happy.

MORE MUSIC IDEAS

We have decided that we would like to add a little more ambient music towards the end of the opening, this will add a really great dynamic and set the mood for what is occuring, making the music parallel to the action. After searching through many different musical clips and deciding we wanted a romantic, piano theme, and it works really well in our film

THE TITLE ANIMATION

We have begun to work on our title. We had a look at our film and decided that we weren't happy with our previous title design for "Dream Hart" and so to make it much more interesting we have agreed as a group to animate the title and change the design to suit the genre of the film. Our idea is to make the title appear as if it is being written on the screen. To do this, we are using Adobe Photoshop and creating each frame of the title individually. This is certainly taking a lot of work and effort, however it will be so worth it in the end as the title will look great.
Hopefully, we will be completing the last little bit of filming this weekend and then we're well on our way to completion.

EDITING THE LIGHTING

During our editing process we realised that the lighting in certain clips in our film is slightly too dark, however, this is an easily solved problem! We simply used the 'Video Effects' to adjust the lighting and make the clips slightly brighter. It has worked really well and has made a great overall impact on the film opening.

PRODUCTION COMPANY NAME

After much deliberation, we have finally decided upon a film production company name that will appear at the beginning of our film: 'Better than Beech', inspired by...a good friend of ours!

Here are the other ideas we considered:
  • Liztilhan Production
  • NLH Production
  • Bevboss Production
  • Pretty Ladies Production
  • Top blogs Production

However, 'Better than Beech' was a clear winner. We believe it has a good 'ring' to it due to the use of alliteration and plosive 'B' sound.

CREDITS

Today, we began adding the titles/credits to the beginning of our film. We researched some other films in the same genre as 'DreamHart' and came across the successful film, 'Bridget Jones' Diary'. The title design of this film really inspired ours and we decided to use a similar style and font to evoke the same genre. This is the clip with the title design:

(Unfortunately, due to copyright restrictions, we are unable to provide the embedded clip, however this is the link, via youtube, to the opening of the film)

EDITING THE LETTER SHOT

The basics are pretty much finished and now all that is left to do is for us to tweak a few bits and make it as good as we possibly can. We still have a little bit more filming to do at the weekend for the montage at the beginning but that is being delt with. Today we focused more on editing the point of view shot when isobel is reading the letter that she receives in her office. The picture above is the sort of shot we are looking for except we will make it more of a point-of-view shot.

THE START OF THE EDITING PROCESS

After inporting and capturing the images we filmed last week we have begun the editing process. We have started to edit the shots we are going to use with the voiceover at the very beginning of the opening sequence. We have also come up with a few more ideas for shots we would like at the beginning of our opening sequence, therefore we're going to be doing a little bit more filming so we definitely have enough footage. Hopefully we'll be able to do that this weekend.

INPORTING

Today, we only have a short lesson, therefore we are simply going to inport everything we have filmed onto the computer and then capture the film. Then we can watch back what we filmed and check for any additional things we need to do before we begin the editing process.

FUTURE PLANS

Now that our filming is pretty much done and dusted, we can move on to the editing process and we will begin this when we return back to college on Monday.

We will be editing each shot until we get it perfect and we are happy. We still have some little things to do such as filming a calender for the office scene; at the location, we realised that we needed a calender and one was not available to us so we have decided to film a calender in college that we will most probably make ourselves on the computer.

The calender would be simple. We have made a calender on Microsoft Works which could be a possibility for the shot.

Once we have printed it off, we will write things on the calender such as meetings etc. to make it more realistic.
