Evaluation finished

finished magazine

Here you can see my finished front cover, contents page and double-page spread all together. Now that they're together, it's clear that a level o0f consistency has been maintained throughout them, e.g. the colour scheme, the simple layout. I am delighted woth the overall outcome of tehm, I think they look really good.
I asked a member of the public on their opinion of it. They really liked it- they like the shade of green I used with teh front cover and contents apge, and they liked the images in the double-page spread. They said that if they'd change one thing, they would have included small pictures on the front cover.

Double page spread following conventions

Here you can see my double page spread alongside a Kerrang double page spread. I've used the Kerrang double page spread as an example to show how my magazine follows conventions, eg. including captions alongside the images and having page numbers at the bottom of the page.

finished double page spread

Here you can see my double page spread. I've used a black, white and yellow colour scheme, and I've tried to make the article look very visual through the use of colourful pictures. The article is written from a fan of the band featured's perspective, so the reader can relate to it.

finished contents page

Here you can see my finished contents page. It looks quite similar to NME's contents page in terms of layout, but I'm very pleased with how it's turned out. I have used a consistent colour scheme throughout the front cover and contents page so that my magazine has a professional look about it.

Front cover

I've finished my font cover- you can see that I've used a clear and simple colour scheme, black white and green. Also, I haven't included any small pictures from other articles on the front cover, which most magazines do, eg. this copy of Kerrang magazine, with all of the pictures along the bottom. It could be argued that my magazine isn't quite as eye-catching as a result, but it looks a lot simpler, and I like this look.

On second thoughts...

I've decided to use this style of font, called 'masterplan', for the title instead. In doing so, I've dropped the black/white/yellow colour scheme I was using before- I'm now using black/white/green.

Photoshoot

I've done my photoshoot for my magazine. The girl featured in the photographs is Frankie Hayes, from my Media Studies class. Here are just a couple of pictures from the photoshoot.

Model for front cover

I've been thinking about the earlier post I made about the model for the front cover for my magazine- I'm not going to go with the guitarist, as it would clash with the genre of my mgazine. Instead, I will have a girl in a similar pose to the woman on the fornt cover of this magazine.

Print Prelim

For the print prelim task, we had to create the front cover and contents page for a college magazine. In doing so, we could learn from our mistakes for when it came to producing our coursework. Here you can see my front cover and contents pages.

I've decided to use amale model holding a guitar on the front cover of my magazine. I like elements of each of these photos, which I will take into consideration when taking the photographs. The first guitarist is wearing the type of clothes I'd like my model to (note the sunglasses), and he isn't playing the guitar, it's just hanging around his neck. He's also staring straight at the camera, which I've noticed that nearly all the pepole on the front of magazines do. However, I also like the low shot from which we see the second guitarist.
I am considering using this masthead for my magazine. I'm definitely using the title, 'Unplugged', and will be using it in the style seen here.
