Stages of the double page 5.

I then added a page number and magazine website to it which helps it look like a proper magazine. I also added a scoring system to the bottom of the interview by using the logo in colour and black and white.

Stages of the double page 4.

I then added the interview. When a certain band member is being interviewed the colour of the text matches the background behind their picture. I put a white box behind the text to make it easier to read against the background.

Stages of the double page 3.

I then added details about each of the band members in a profile under each picture.

Stages of the double page 2.

I then added pictures of all of the band members and a couple of group shots. I did this by editing out the background of the pictures and putting them on top of Polaroid pictures and coloured the backgrounds to match the colours of the tops. I added their names to look like they have signed them.

Stages of the double page 1.

I started my double page spread by making the background out of photos that I took of Dolly Mixture sweets and rearranged in Photoshop. I then added the title to the top of the page. I used the same font and website as the front page and contents page. For this title I used the colours of the Dolly Mixtures to match the background.

Double page.

I decided to plan my double page to make sure I knew exactly what I was doing when it came to creating it. This is my plan for the double page.

Stages of the contents page 5.

I then added a page number and magazine website to it which helps it look like a proper magazine.

Stages of the contents page 4.

I then added captions to the pictures to explain what they are doing there.

Stages of the contents page 3.

I then added the photos to the page. I added a full length picture down the right hand side. I also added a picture of the band in the bottom left corner and another picture above it. I also included another shape at the top right corner and used the same colours as the logo. This was done as it is a new section in the magazine. I decided that the new section was going to be on fashion because in my research I found that most music magazines were going towards fashion.

Stages of the contents page 2.

I then added a blue block shape that goes down the centre of my page on a slight angle. To keep it consistent I made it the same shade of blue as on the cover. I then added the magazine articles along with the page numbers, which are in ascending order, and tilted it to match the block of colour. To make the page numbers standout.

Stages of the contents page 1.

I started my contents page by creating the background which is the word pulse (the name of the magazine) repeated all over in a faint yellow. I then added the font that I got from the same website as the one for my front cover and the same font. I also added the same logo as on the front but moved it to the left and underneath the title.

Contents page.

I decided to plan my contents page to make sure I knew exactly what I was doing when it came to creating it. This is my plan for the contents page.

Stages of the cover 5.

I’ve added white smudged stars to finish it off as the background was a bit boring. I am pleased with how my front cover has turned out as I think that from a glance you can tell that it is pop through the use of block bright colours. I think that by using block shapes it appeals to the young reader as it stands out.

Stages of the cover 4.

To make it look like a proper magazine I added barcode to the bottom of the page which also has the month and the price on. I also redid the price in big in a big circle so that it stands out and is easy to read.

Stages of the cover 3.

I then added the article headings to the front cover, the ones on the left edge I aligned to the left and the ones on the right I aligned to the right. I also added pictures from other articles because in my research I found that magazines for young teens used pictures to attract their audience so I decided to do the same. I also added more block shapes behind the pictures. All of my article headings are in the same pink as the others to keep it consistent except for on the word ‘free’ as I want it to stand out to catch the audience eye. I also used the logo to split up the things that are free.

Stages of the cover 2.

I then added a photo of the band that the main article of the magazine is about. To fit them all in the picture is taken quite far away from the people. I also added a banner, in bright pink, which I added the band’s name to and a sub title. The banner stands out and draws your eye to it, so that it is the first thing that you see so you buy the magazine to read that article.

Stages of the cover 1.

I started my front cover by making the background a bright light blue. I then added the font that I got from the website http://www.urbanfonts.com. I then re-coloured the font to stick to my colour scheme. I wanted my font to be bold and fun so I decided to use a font that was curved. I then crated my logo by layering circles on top of each other to represent the title by being like a pulse beat. I then added a sub title which also kept with the colour scheme, the slogan fits in with the title and the logo.

Colour Scheme

My main colour scheme for my magazine will be pink, yellow, white and light blue.

Front Cover Plan
