Double page spread

For my double page spread, I decided to go for a black, white and red colour theme as I noticed in other magazines, various colour themes are always used as in a way, it maintains a recognition of it being a double page spread. I used quotes from the article which also helps to make my magazine look genuine. The page numbe and the website are present as they were in the contents page.

Contents page

For my contents page, I decided to stick to neutral colours to apply an edgy effect. The image used contains the correct body language needed for a magazine. I added an editor section as I noticed that this was featured in the NME magazine I used as a template. I also added dates, the website and a page number at the bottom to give it a professional and genuine feel.

SOS logo

I created a logo which would be recognised like magazines such as NME and Kerrang. I used various effects and the font 'Cyberspace' from dafont.com. I decided to use silver colours because they suit the genre of music I have chosen, Indie/Electro as it gives it a more 'elcetric feel'.
I decided to use this picture on my front cover for the main band feature.
I wanted to portray the arrogance of fame which is represented on other magazine covers .
I used the magic wand tool on Photoshop to erase the background on the picture and applied effects to the image in order to make the image more eyecatching. The bight colours used attract the reader's attention. I also airbrushed the face to make it look more professional.

Magazine Research.

I have researched the various techniques used on the front covers of 'NME' magazine and have compared the different ways in which they produce the covers in every issue and how they differ.

After this, I analysed the front covers of magazines such as 'Kerrang' and 'Vibe' and compared the various techniques such as colouring and images used.

I then went on to research the contents pages form the magazines 'NME' and 'Kerrang'.

Magazine prelim.

Here is the front cover of the magazine which myself, Alex, Abi and Nick produced for our prelims.
