One Last Thing, now with added impact!

So after going through the script with Chris; we've come up with a way to add more impact to the script.
In the full script of OLT, there are integral segments set in a park; paying homage to a non-linear structure. In the timeline of OLT, the park scene is set at the end of the story; on results day. In the scene, protaginists NICK and PAUL reminisce on days when they were younger. I'm going to use the first of these park scenes, and place it after Scene 3; the library scene.
This adds more impact, as a non-linear structure is a particular method of attracting an audience's attention.
Here is the excerpt of the script that I'll be using to add to the opening scene:

Scene 6: Park Evening (Sunset)
Cut to a park bench, a two-shot behind the two boys. Nick is sat on it, and Paul is sat on top of it. Sunset has to be prominent in this scene.

PAUL: Do you remember when we were in year 6?

NICK: Back in the day.

PAUL: Remember when we were at Tom Kunnick’s birthday party? And you won pass the parcel when I was sat next to you?

NICK: Sort of.

PAUL: I bloody won that! You snatched it off me in the last second!

NICK: (Laughs) It was a Pokemon colouring book, you weren’t missing out on much.

PAUL: I didn’t talk to you for the rest of the party. I felt gutted.

NICK: Um, Sorry?

PAUL: Its okay, we made friends later. (Smiles)

NICK: Remember that Tom was going out with Kathy?

PAUL: Oh yeah! At year 6! They grow up so fast!

NICK: What do you thinks going to happen?

PAUL: When?

NICK: After results. First time we’re going to be, like, apart since we met.

PAUL: We’ll still hang out, like. Weekends, holidays….

NICK: Won’t be the same, though.

PAUL: Maybe not, but it’s the best we can do.

NICK: Suppose.

PAUL: It’s scary isn’t it? The future. Just got to deal with things as they come.

NICK: Yeah.

PAUL: Yeah.

Nick stands up.

NICK: Your place?

PAUL: Yeah. Noodles on the way, though.

Paul stands up, the pair walk away.

NICK: Agreed. I do love noodles.

PAUL: It’s noodle o clock.

This'll do. I've already scouted out locations for the park; Victoria Park in Widnes is a brilliant park to film in. I brought my friend with me (Named Nick, how ironic), so I can get an idea of what the bench would look like when populated (Those photos are dotted around at the top). It's just a matter of getting permission to film in the park, so watch this space.

Upcoming soon will be talking about location shots in Nick's home, storyboards and casting choices.

Till Then,
Joni Beech
