One radio station we looked at was XFM Manchester.

In the XFM extract the main radio presenter uses a very short introduction to bring in the news bulletin. The News reporter then gives a brief overview of each subject lasting no more then 10-15 seconds there are 5 news stories and then a brief weather update. Finally the news update ends with an outro linking smoothly back in to the main radio show. Throughout the report there is low background music to cover up any gaps in speech this is done to avoid silence.
