Research- Final Example

This example of NME Magazine has used the usual red and black layout to make it recognisable to the reader. The main image is of band, The Last Shadow Puppets. Because they were a new band at the time this magazine issue was released, the name of the band is in the biggest font just under the pictures. However, band member Alex Turner would already be recognisable to the audience from his other band, Arctic Monkeys. His name and the other band member's name, Miles Kane, is in white letters but still quite big font. This makes the names stand out to grab attention and directily underneath the words 'First major interview as' in italics.

There is then a quote from Turner saying "I was worried the Monkeys would think I'd had an affair." Having a quote is a usual feature on a magazine front cover to give a taster of what's inside.

Going along the side of the magazine are subheadings and stories that are featured in the magazine. The actual headline is in red with a brief description of it underneath.

This example has given me plenty of ideas to replicate for my own magazine cover. It has helped me to establish what sort of fonts, layouts and pictures that would be good for my own magazine cover.
