Research

Before I take the pictures for my magazine, I researched magazine covers which would be relevant to my own. My magazine is going to be based around popular music, similar to magazines such as Billboard and Q which feature popular & upcoming artists. They are not tied down to one particular genre, unlike magazines such as Kerrang, which is just rock music, or Top Of The Pops, which is just pop music.

Billboard Magazine

These magazines all have one central image, which takes up quite a large proportion of the page. The title is big and bold at the top and there is quite alot of text around the central image, letting the reader know what else is in the magazine. There isn't a specific colour scheme for the magazine, as each cover includes different colours, unlike magazines such as Q & NME, which contain mostly red, black and white. The artists featured in Billlboard vary from Pop, R&B, Country & Indie.

Q Magazine

Although Q magazine focuses mainly on bands and indie artists, they feature a wide range of genres. The main colours in Q magazine are Red and Black, which is also used in other music
magazines such as NME.
