We have decided that we are going to do a radio broadcast for our media project. We made this decision because we enjoyed the radio prelim more than the video or print prelims and editing for radio is also similar to the video editing but it is simpler and easier to manage then working with video and audio at the same time. Another reason is that Winstanley has excellent radio equipment and our radio recording will be of high quality because of this.

It will be a news insert at lunchtime from a music radio station, a real world example of this kind of show is Radio 1’s Newsbeat. The show will have a main host, a reporter in the field, specialised reporters for things such as sport and weather and an interview with “regular people” on the streets. The show will focus on one topic in detail and 4 minor stories not looked at in as much detail. We have chosen this because we have looked in to both local and national radio stations and how they work there news programs and we have decided that this is the most common outline and thus must be the most successful.

The target audience for our radio broadcast will be people in their late teens and early twenties the stories will be targeted at this audience to maximise interest on the news stories, we will do this by selecting stories that we think will appeal to this audiences interests and deal with them in a simple and effective way.
