Creating the soundtrack

The first 'draft' of my film required three short pieces of music. I planned to use original music with lyrics written by myself and music composed by Liam Stevens and Sarah Bulfield. The pieces were based on the upbeat music from Marina and the Diamonds and Regina Spektor.

The script has evolved and after reshooting I've decided to use one of the pieces of music to play over the first scene and 'Earthquake' by Little boots for the second and to underscore the third. The lyrics for the original piece are about growing up and changes which relates to the context of the film as it's about growing apart as the two characters 'Alexa' and 'George' get older. My second scene shows Alexa getting ready for college and a close-up of her ipod shows this song being turned up which I intend to make part of the soundtrack (a cresscendo of the volume)
