I decided to call the magazine "Zone" to refer to a specific place and to imply that in this case, that place was t
his magazine where the reader can go to find all of the latest music news.I adjusted the baseline shift of the "O" to create something an image that a reader would remember and automatically associate with this magazine. It adds another dimension to the appearance of the word without making it seem comical or reducing the professional edge. I chose black because it contrasted effectively with the white box and complemented the red of the band that I placed the white box in at the top of the cover. I also felt that block capitals were more effective that lower case letters because this set an older, more formal tone but also provided the masculine appearance that typical Indie magazines seem to reflect. Capitals also represent shouting, as if the cover shouts out to the reader to notice it as they walk by and see it on a shelf.

Here, I adjusted the base line shift, vertical scale and tracking for the "O" and "E" to create another possible logo. However, I did not feel this was as effective as the previous logo because it did not look professional enough. It did not seem memorable and therefore would fail to catch the interest of readers in the same way as the other logo. I did not like the fact that the letters were all the same height, width and length because it made the title look generic and therefore uninteresting.
