After deciding that using posterise gained the effect I wanted to achieve, I experimented with other effects to place over the top. I used Threshold to give the image an almost cartoon-like appearance. Although I liked this effect, the lack of colour was not strong enough to attract an audience and it contrasted with the full-colour, smaller images.
I then decided to use the hue and saturation tool with the
posterise effect. I liked the illustrative appearance this gave the image, and the way the light was highlighted to appear yellow and red on the left which gradually faded to grey on the right. The grey also complemented the simplicity of the colours of the smaller images rather than emphasise the differences between them, such as the black and white effect had done.

uration tool to create another colour variation, I decided to use this as my final image. The green added an effective contrast to the red bands, which made the cover more eye-catching. The yellow on the left also successfully harmonised with both the red and the green to create a rich appearance full of interesting, vibrant colour. The brightness of the skin and the T-shirt also contrasted effectively with the darkness of the jacket, guitar and the detail in the fence panels, adding more dimensions to the image.
